Students of the Department of Performing Arts presented the musical program “You and I Are Vilnius” at the Nations’ Fair
At the 17th Nations’ Fair, students of the Musical Theatre and Popular Music study programmes performed the program “I and You Are Vilnius” on the main stage. On September 19, right in the heart of Vilnius – on Gediminas Avenue – well-known pieces were performed for the city’s residents and guests by Musical Theatre students: Salomėja Pakerytė, Patricija Bagdonavičiūtė, Kamilė Vaitkutė, Vaiva Drabulytė, Domantas Taukinaitis, Austėja Jančauskaitė, Toma Pauraitė, and Lukrecija Vasiliauskaitė. Their repertoire included various numbers from musicals and films.
The event also featured performances by the ensemble of Popular Music students: Danielė Paužaitė, Dominyka Grigonytė (vocals), Justas Selenis (keyboard), Jogaila Bagdonavičius (guitar), Laurynas Staponkus (saxophone), Povilas Klimauskas (double bass), and Matas Barila (percussion).
The impressive performance was prepared under the guidance of music directors and curators: Assoc. Prof. Pranas Kentra, Assoc. Prof. Eglė Juozapaitienė, Assoc. Prof. Dalia Babilaitė-Abarė, Assoc. Prof. Povilas Butkus, lecturers Justinas Lapatinskas, and Deividas Norvilas. The director of the event was lecturer Tomas Kizelis.
The students were warmly applauded by the community of Vilniaus kolegija/Higher Education Institution: representatives of the administration, lecturers, staff, students, as well as a large number of guests attending the Fair. Special attention was given by the Chairman of the Seimas Committee on Culture, Kęstutis Vilkauskas, who praised the students’ outstanding performance and discussed future opportunities for collaboration.
We sincerely thank our social partners – the Lithuanian Folk Life, Traditions, Cuisine, and Crafts Association “Festival for All”, the event coordinator Laimutė Semėnienė, and the hosts of the event – Musical Theatre student Kamilė Vaitkutė and Cultural Activity Management student Emilijus Čiuteikis – as well as all the students who performed on stage and the lecturers who guided them for the many beautiful moments and wonderful emotions they created.
