Veronika Žvirblė – a lecturer at the Faculty of Arts and Design of Higher Education Institution – at the international conference

Veronika Žvirblė, a lecturer at the Faculty of Arts and Design of Higher Education Institution, presented her paper “Ephemeral Signs: Land Art and Flows of Cultural Memory on the Threshold of Heritage Future(S)” at the international conference at the Faculty of Arts of the Portuguese Catholic University held on 18th–20th March this year in Porto. The paper was based on the artistic research conducted together with Dr. Jaroslavas Daveika.

The presentation examined how contemporary art forms can function as a mediator for activating cultural memory, revealing heritage not only as a preserved object of the past, but also as a living, changing process. Among the keynote speakers of the conference “EPoCH 2026: Heritage Future(S) / Future Heritage(S). On the Threshold of Change” were internationally recognised scholars of culture and heritage, including Prof. Cornelius Holtorf of Linnaeus University, who leads the UNESCO Heritage Futures research initiative and, in his presentation, explored the concept of heritage futures in the face of contemporary cultural change and crises. We are pleased that, in this case, the conference space became not only a venue for presenting the paper, but also a vibrant field for sharing contacts, ideas, and future project opportunities.
