On March 5th, 2026, the Fashion Design Department hosted lecturers Silvija Mežinska, Diāna Apele, and Gita Līpenīte from the Rezekne Academy of Technologies (Latvia). Their visit took place during the International Teaching Week 2026, organized at the Faculty of Arts and Design on March 2nd – 6th.
The guests were warmly welcomed by the Head of the Fashion Design Department, Gražina Skripkienė, along with lecturers and students. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the fluid painting technique (fluid art), which is increasingly used in contemporary creative practice, and to experiment with the so-called “flowing cell” effect practically. The lecturers presented both the theoretical and practical components of the creative workshop “Flowing Cell Art Masterclass”.
During the session, participants actively engaged in the creative process, experimenting with painting methods that allow the formation of organic, spontaneously emerging colour structures. The workshop also encouraged the exchange of ideas and experiences among participants. Such practices open new possibilities for visual expression that can be applied in textile and fashion design projects.
The visit also included discussions on further opportunities for international cooperation, including plans for joint projects and the exchange of lecturers and students. The long-standing partnership between the Fashion Design Department and Rezekne Academy of Technologies continues to strengthen academic ties and creates a platform for new creative and research initiatives.
